What to do in “Kfar Yasif”, Israel

Kafr Yasif is a local council in the Northern District of Israel, about 8 km northeast of Akko, and was declared a local council in 1925.

Many remains attest to the existence of an ancient settlement dating back to the Canaanites, the Israelis, and the Phoenicians. Remains of a Jewish settlement from the Roman, Byzantine and Crusader periods, most of which were either destroyed or buried, are also found there.

Until the middle of the 19th century, a Jewish community also lived in the village. An ancient Jewish cemetery, which was used from the 17th to the beginning of the 20th century, can still be seen there. The Jews of Akko and the surrounding area, who did not want to be buried outside the borders of the Land of Israel (Akko was considered a foreign city outside the Land of Israel), used this cemetery.
