Ma’alot-Tarshiha is a city in Israel’s northern district, a few kilometers from the Israel-Lebanon border, 20 kilometers east of Nahariya. The city lies in the Upper Galilee at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level.

Visitors to the city and its surroundings will enjoy its unique nature, and, the culture and art that have developed there over the years.

To the east of the city is Lake Monfort, a resort with an artificial lake and recreational facilities. Here you can take a boat, ice skate, take a ride on a go-kart, or splash in the pool.

One of the most amazing festivals in Israel is found in Ma’alot Tarshiha, the International Stone Symposium in the Galilee held every year during Hol HaMoed, and includes many free activities and attractions for the whole family. The festival attracts sculptors from Israel and abroad, and during the festival, they receive a block of stone and sculpt.

During the festival, you can watch live sculpting, and see how their figures form a shape and the stone mass lowly becomes art. At the end of the festival, the sculptures are displayed. In the city, there are concentrations of sculptures on Kalanit Street and Ma’ale Habanim Street.

A colorful market is held every Saturday in the city, and after a tour, you can rest and eat at one of the many restaurants therein. There are also guest rooms available. If you want to go for a walk – the selection is great – Goren Park and the Monfort Fortress, Yehiam Fortress, Tefen Museum, Nahal Kziv, and Peqi’in.
