Information and Review of the Castel National Site

You can hear this site’s ancient history in its name 1,000 years ago it was a Crusader castle-farmhouse. Due to its strategic location overlooking the road to Jerusalem, during Israel’s 1948 War of Independence a famous battle was fought here to keep the road open to the country’s besieged future capital. Signs at the site will tell you the story of the battle.
