Information and Review of the Yad Avshalom
An ornate monument from the first century BCE, said to be the tomb of Avshalom, the rebellious son of King David.
Arabic tradition holds it to belong to Pharaohs, whereas Christians ascribe the grave behind the monument to Joseph Avi Yishai.
The tomb is one in a line of burial caves carved out of cliff rock, including Zecharia’s tomb and Bnei Hazir’s tomb. This is one of the most beautiful ancient rock tombs in all of Israel.
