Khan el-Umdan was built on the foundations of a crusader monastery.
It has a clock tower in front, and is surrounded by granite pillars that were conveyed from Caesarea and from Atlit.
The site overlooks the marina and port of Acco and Haifa. The Carmel mountain range can also be seen from it.
