Information and Review of the Iron Moulding Heritage Museum

In 2003, only 24 hours after the final closing of the famed coin, metal, and symbols workshop in Jerusalem Workshop, which was founded by his father Shmuel Kretzmer 100 years earlier, metal artist Eliahu Kretzmer passed away.

Eliyahu’s son, Boaz Kretzmer, a member of Kibbutz Tze’elim for more than 40 years, gave several hundred items to the kibbutz, out of the thousands of items that were produced in the workshop since the beginning of the 20th century. This included the works of Boris Schatz at Betzalel, and, pendants and medals of the IDF and its units during that time.

Boaz Kretzmer, the grandson of the founder and son of Eliahu, the last of the craftsmen, tells the story of the impressive models and steel figures that tell some of Israel and the Jewish peoples’ stories: Herzl and the Zionist Congress, the days of the British Mandate, the Holocaust and heroism, the struggle for independence, and the State of Israel. The steel and the bronze tell the stories of every site and place, every event and occurrence, and every personality familiar to us, and, who accompanied us over the past hundred years.

It is a museum that tells the story of the heritage of all of us, as is reflected in the engraving and stamping work of a family of Jerusalem craftsmen.

Visitations to the museum is intended for groups (minimum 20 people, maximum 50).

Tours last about an hour and a half.
