Information and Review of the First Station Jerusalem

In the heart of Jerusalem, between the Old City and the city center, and the historic neighborhoods of the German Colony and Yemin Moshe, lies the first railway station of Jerusalem (“HaTahana Rishona”), which was established in 1892 and served as the city’s main transport route until 1998, wherein it ceased operations and stood abandoned and neglected.

In 2013, after a process of renovation and extensive preservation, the “HaTahana Rishona” was reopened as a center of leisure, culture, culinary arts, and sports.

HaTahana operates in a variety of fields and offers visitors a special entertainment experience that combines history with the contemporary world. There are tours of the complex, including a tour of two reconstructed train cars: a car where you can “time travel,” and a miniature train car.

Also, the Visitor Center offers guests the chance to learn about walking tours, bike or Segway tours to the surrounding areas, while serving as an information center in Jerusalem for tourists and travelers.

In the northern part of the complex is the “Children’s Station,” which offers a variety of activities for children of all ages. HaTahana offers round-the-clock transportation services free of charge to the Western Wall and the City of David.
