Information and Review of the The Twin Towers Memorial

The Twin Towers Monument in memory of the victims who perished in the terror attacks on New York’s World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, was designed by artist-sculptor Eliezer Weishoff.

The design concept is a waving American flag transforming into a memorial flame rising skyward.

The monument consists of a six-meter-high bronze cast resting on a 1.5 meter-high gray granite base.

The artist created a kind of window on the base of the monument inlaid with a piece of steel brought from the wreckage of the Twin Towers.

The sculpture is located in the middle of a round plaza encircled by two-meter-high walls, so that anyone descending into the plaza is cut off from their surroundings and sees only the monument against the background of the sky.

Built between the reflection plaza and the monument plaza are bleachers seating 120, plant beds and 14 cast aluminum panels engraved with the names of the over 3,000 victims at all three 9/11 disaster sites.

The site is handicap-accessible.
