Information and Review of the Seeds From Zion

“Seeds of Zion,” is the only plant nursery in Israel that specializes in landscape restoration and preserving wild plants.

The “Simon Tov” farm, located in Moshav Kerem Maharal, specializes in wild plants from Israel.

The farm’s founders, Simon Tov and Hala (RIP), were awarded the international gold medal in the category of wildflowers at a flower exhibition held in the new auditorium in New York during the first decade of Israel’s existence.

Today, projects are carried out all over the country, in almost every neighborhood, road or railroad that is under construction, Seeds of Zion comes before work starts. They do this in order to preserve wildflowers (anemones, cyclamens, daffodils, wild orchids, etc.) The native plants are stored in the Kerem Maharal area, and after the completion of the work, the plants are returned to the project area (according to a plan by a landscape architect.) The main reason for planting the wild plants on the side of the road is to “hold” the soil. Especially since native plants do not need artificial irrigation, the irrigation that rain supplies are sufficient.

If you are interested in creating a natural garden that will also be economical in water, wild plants are the solution. They deal with research at the farm. Most of the native plants that are grown, more than 1100 species, for producing seeds, tubers, and seedlings in an area of over 10 acres.

When the farm begins to flourish, the tour season starts – carpets of cyclamen, Egyptian carnations, yellow hyacinths, chrysanthemums, poppies, etc. Wild plants are waiting for you in the nursery.

Seeds from Zion invite you to come and see the flowering of over 150 varieties of wild plants.

The tour explains how it all started, the importance of wild plants, what the nursery does regarding the bees and butterflies, why it is essential to save the native plants, including the protected plants, etc. The tour can be combined with planting or sowing workshop where you will get a flower pot to take home. The tour is recommended for all ages and is best from December to May. The tour lasts about an hour and a half.
