Beit Ha’ir museum offers a variety of historical perspectives on Tel Aviv, the first Hebrew city in modern times. The premises include a reconstruction of Meir Dizengoff’s office, the first mayor of the city; rotating exhibitions in the gallery flor; a painted tile floor and the historical staircase. A porch offers panoramic views of Tel Aviv, and the atmosphere is enriched with authentic Tel Aviv songs from various period. A new wing hosts the exhibit “The Visible City”, curated by Nirit Shalev-Khalifa, featuring a summary of the commemorative project documenting historical city life, sites and events, completed for the 100th anniversary of the Tel Aviv. The “Tel Aviv Time Machine” in the ground floor offers a unique collection chronicling the story of the city with rare archival materials, videos and photographs. A top floor reading room is open to the public on weekdays, offering a rich selection of nonfiction, fiction and poetry works.The site also has guided tours, exploring Tel Aviv history and the efforts of reconstructing it. Weekdays activities are most suitable for young ages, from kindergarten to school age. Family tours are offered during the weekends.
